Mid-week 1/22/2025

Bible Focus: 1 Samuel 15

  • Saul’s pride and fear of man resulted in him being rejected by the Lord as king over Israel. “Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe” (Proverbs 29:25). We are to put our faith and trust in God.

Older Kids (2nd-5th grade):

  • Memory verses:

    • 1 Samuel 15:22, “And Samuel said, ‘Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams.’”

    • 1 Samuel 16:7, “But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.’”

    • 1 Samuel 17:37, “And David said, ‘The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.’ And Saul said to David, ‘Go, and the Lord be with you!’”

Younger Kids (Kindergarten-1st grade):

  • Memory verse:

    • 1 Samuel 15:22, “…Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams.”
