The primary focus of the teaching ministry is patterned from Ephesians 4:12 ” to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, …” We feel that most ministries can be started and maintained by the faithful individuals that make up the church gathered as they are inspired by God to do specific ministries as they sit and receive the Word of God and endeavor to put it into practice.

Children’s Ministry

This is one ministry we could say we have really sought to organize to make sure there is age-appropriate Bible teaching.  This allows Mom and Dad to relax in the adult service to worship and learn from the Scriptures without distraction.  This also allows their children to learn about Jesus in an age-appropriate manner, which really is the best way for children to learn.

Student Ministries

Zero Gravity Youth offers engaging discipleship for our families with middle school grades 6-8 and high school grades 9-12 students.  There is a combined worship and Bible study that coincides with our church-wide midweek service. Middle school age youth have their own gathering on Sunday mornings with ‘Altared Mornings’ and the high school aged youth go deep and personal into God’s word with ‘connect’ during the week. Each of these times offer a chance to dialogue, ask questions as they are challenged to think about what they believe and why they believe it and own it as their own faith.

Counseling / Discipleship – D2S “Disciple to Serve”

Various classes are offered on Monday nights at the church September – May covering everything from coffee cup counseling, marriage relationships, depression, bipolar diagnoses, pornography, etc. Of course, year-round individual and family counseling is available. Practical opportunities abound to serve others through the CARE and HELPS Teams…

Band of Brothers – ‘men’s ministry’

‘Developing the hearts of men for God and for each other’ by exercising our theme verse;  ‘Contending as one man for the faith of the Gospel’ – Philippians 1:27

Women of the Word - women’s ministry

“Encouraging growing relationships among women with a divine purpose – “My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely Christ.” - Colossians 2:2

Calvary Chapel School

At Calvary Chapel School  we seek to provide a Bible-based, academically sound education for children in K4 through 8th grade.  It is our privilege to offer Christian education with high academic standards to those who want this emphasis and influence in the lives of their children.

Home Fellowships

Home fellowships have always been and continue to be a staple of ministry here at Calvary Chapel Sarasota as we view the home as the ideal setting to build close, personal relationships to more effectively minister to deep, personal needs.

Especially as the church has grown to include three weekend services we believe more than ever that home fellowships can foster those deep and necessary relationships in ways that can elude us in the large church setting.  So, we continue to place a priority in the development of a stronger home fellowship network.

the Great Commission Cafe

Our café is an informal gathering place where we can enjoy extended fellowship with our church family and community guests. Here you will find a relaxed, casual atmosphere with friendly ministry-minded service as we offer top quality coffees, espressos and specialty drinks along with pastries and hot food items.  The atmosphere, products and events work together to highlight our missionary outreaches. The cafe is operated in manner that allows for a great product at a great price to cover overhead and any profits realized are used to support special missions projects.

Prayer
In our church, the Home Fellowships are the main group prayer centers.  We also gather regularly to pray for our weekly services and both encourage and incorporate prayer during the worship and the close of each service. We also have committed prayer warriors that monitor ‘The Prayer Wall’ (our in-house online prayer request center) and the ‘Prayers and Squares’,  a quilting ministry to the sick and those with a special need of a tangible expression of love and care covered with prayer. We definitely see the need for more continued prayer; yet because of our Bible teaching, The Prayer Wall and the Home Fellowships we undoubtedly have more prayer now than was produced by the mid-week ‘prayer meeting’ church services of the past.  Our church was largely birthed out of a Friday night prayer meeting which was very well attended for over three years. Currently, our Monday Night Prayer has some very faithful leaders and an ever-growing number of participants. Please pray for a true revival of prayer in our church.
